Joey the Dock Diving Champion of Australia

Kelly and her dog Joey competed in the 2009 Purina World Dog Games held at Acer Arena on Oct. 31st and Nov. 1st. Joey literally flew past all the other competitors and won the title of "Top Dog" in the NEW dog sporting event called Big Air Dockdogs.

Dock Diving is a sport like long jump for dogs, in which the dog must run down a 15 meter ramp and launch itself into a 20 meter long pool to retrieve a toy that the handler has thrown. The dog that jumps the farthest wins, and special equipment is used to measure the distance exactly to where the base of the dog's tail enters the water.

Joey's longest jump at the World Dog Games was an impressive 23 feet 8 inches (7.2 meters), which set the Australian record, and also beat the UK record. The Americans still hold the world record at 28 feet 10 inches (8.7 meters), but Joey and Kelly definitely gave them a run for their money, considering they only started training 6 weeks before the event.

The Purina World Dog Games aired as a 1 hour special on Channel 7 December 19th 2009. Joey leapt her way to victory.
